This was the scene today in my classroom as parent - teacher conferences began.
Showing student writing to a parent does not necessarily involve pulling some papers out of a manilla folder any more. Just head to the student's blog:
Hi Mark, Maxine, one of the teachers in my workshop course was talking today about a bloggers' contract that she found online. The teacher, she said, had a parent meeting where he showed the parents his students' blogs. She was very impressed. You're doing good work.

Doug, thanks. It should be noted (and I will do so on the blog you mentioned) that the Blogger's Contract was developed by David Warlick, here.
With his permission I started with that and developed one for my kids, here. - Mark
HI Mark. Just a heads up - the link on the roomtwelve.com text is bad. It has an extra http at the end.
And I agree with Doug - you're doing such good things with your students!
Jim, fixed that link. Thanks for the heads up! - Mark
I absolutely love it. I wish I could figure out how to get the right people to buy into this kind of PT conference in our district.
I guess the evangelizing will have to continue. Thanks for the excellent example.
