In less than 6 hours, every one of the 40 year old dictionaries I had offered for free outside my classroom door was gone. I am beyond words and understanding.
Maybe they nabbed the dictionaries for posterity - something to show the grandkids from the days when they thought they could capture the entire English language in one place, despite the fact that we speak an evolving language.
